After their orientation week in Umeå, the LOREX (Limnology and Oceanography Research Exchange) participants arrived in Abisko this weekend. The students spent their first day getting to know the area. This endeavor included a chairlift ride to the top of Mount Nuolja. Up here, the student enjoyed the great view, were amazed by the streams on the mountain top, and took the opportunity to get some pictures.

Along with the project coordinators, David Seekell and Adina Paytan, the students are spending the first two days getting to know Abisko and Swedish culture. The purpose of the LOREX project is for U.S. students to gain international experience and collaborate with partners abroad. For more information on the project, visit the LOREX project page.
