John Anderson holds the royal environmental professorship at Umeå University for 2017–2018. On Wednesday 14 February, he will together with four colleagues, hold open lectures with the Swedish King in the audience. The theme is climate effects on Northern ecosystems.
When HM King Carl XVI Gustaf celebrated his 70th birthday in 2016, Umeå University honoured him with a gift – a scientific seminar. The theme of the seminar is the Arctic – a highly topical issue – not least because of the climate changes that pose a substantial threat to the world we live in.

Arctic scholar and Greenland expert John Anderson, a professor at Loughborough University in England, has been designated the recipient of the HM King Carl XVI Gustaf Professor of Environmental Science 2017-18. He will be hosted by the Climate Impacts Research Centre, Department of Ecology and Environmental Science at Umeå University.
