The grass is always greener…

As a researcher, you travel a lot. It’s usually a lot of fun, but… Umeå is so far from everything. It’s therefore no surprise that over 90% of the carbon dioxide emissions of Umeå University is caused by traveling employees. With a better world in mind, I therefore spend my last two days in a train, traveling from Umeå-Sundsval-Uppsala-Stockholm-Lund-Copenhagen-Hamburg-Ostnabruck-Hengelo-Zwolle-Leiden. From white to grey to brown to green and greener.

John Anderson holds the royal environmental professorship at Umeå University for 2017–2018. On Wednesday 14 February, he will together with four colleagues, hold open lectures with the Swedish King in the audience. The theme is climate effects on Northern ecosystems.

Aktum - På vandring över fjället mot framtidens klimat

I den känsliga fjällmiljön kan man se klimatförändringarna med blotta ögat. Till forskningsstationen i Abisko kommer därför forskare från hela världen. En av verksamheterna som bedriver klimatstudier i den svenska fjällen är Climate Impacts Research Centre, CIRC, vid Umeå universitet.
