Meet our summer communications interns

3 June to 3 September, 2018

Yrsa Axelsson and Sebastian Enhager will develop a communication plan for CIRC during the summer of 2018. During this time they update our website and create social media content focused on our research and teaching activities. Our researchers should contact them directly to schedule time with them either in the office, lab, or field.

They will help CIRC improve our research profiles, project pages, and media content. This content includes taking photos and short videos, interviewing, and blogging.

For media, please contact them directly and cc keith.larson@umu.se to arrange media coverage of any CIRC activities in Abisko or Umeå this summer.

My academic interests primarily involves climate issues, violence and radicalisation of extremists, which reflect my choice of education: I am currently writing my Bachelor thesis within the Bachelor’s program in Peace and Conflict Studies at Lund University in Sweden. I came in touch with CIRC during my time as an Communications and Politics Intern at the Embassy of Sweden in Canada, where I, among other things, co-managed a multilateral event on the Nordic Arctic. My interest in communications and photography came into being while I spend half a year living with farmers in the Nicaraguan suburbs, providing journalistic work for a Swedish association working with local partners in Latin America. This is also where my interest for indigenous rights was born. During this summer’s internship at CIRC I especially look forward to gain insights into environmental issues in the Arctic. My goal is to engage in the different research projects and to provide new insights to CIRC’s communication platforms, for CIRC to reach a greater audience.

My name is Sebastian Enhager. I am currently a student at the Bachelor's program in Peace and Conflict Studies at Lund University in Sweden. The primary focus of my studies has been concerned with conflict and cooperation as a result of environmental changes. My last research was conducted at the International Centre for Political Violence and Terrorism Research (ICPVTR) in Singapore.  During the internship this summer I look forward to gaining a deeper insight into the conduct of environmental research in the process of building a comprehensive communication platform and strategy. My goal for the summer is to take to opportunity to engage in the various project and gain new insights to be used in my subsequent studies. Beyond my academic interest, I am always eager to go climbing or hiking and has been working with guiding and skiing around the globe, among other, in Canada, New Zealand and Norway.
