operation and activities

CIRC develop, facilitate and coordinate research at Umeå University (UmU) on the effects of a changing climate in Arctic ecosystems. We do this by providing personnel resources, infrastructure (offices, laboratories, field sites and experimental facilities) and support with hydrological modelling to promote high quality year-round research on climate effects in Arctic ecosystems. CIRC initiates and coordinate cross-border innovative climate impact research that integrates terrestrial and aquatic Arctic environments. We promote national and international research exchanges and interdisciplinary collaborations on climate effects on Arctic ecosystems. We act as a knowledge node for teaching and education at UmU on climate effects in Arctic ecosystems. We work to ensure that research is conducted in a sustainable manner and that negative effects on the climate are minimized and that scientific information about climate effects in Arctic ecosystems is disseminated across society.
